About the Author
Tracy A. Franklin lives and works in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, in the Northeast of England. She is a freelance specialist traditional embroiderer. She trained at the Royal School of Needlework on the three-year apprenticeship scheme and continue to work there as a teacher, finally becoming Apprentice Coordinator in 1997. She left the school in 2001 to start her own business teaching, exhibiting and selling. She is the author of New Ideas in Goldwork and a contributor to Royal School of Needlework Embroidery Techniques, also published by B.T. Batsford.
Nicola Jarvis trained as a traditional hand embroiderer and textile restorer at the Royal School of Needlework. She left the school in 1995 to pursue a career as a freelance embroidery designer and teacher and during this time has produced embroidered decorations for British fashion companies.
